Deep-Sea Daybook

Posted in Fiction, Sci-Fi on July 24, 2009 by GuNNhead

Deep beneath the sea that we all know, I continue deeper; my submarine groans under the strain, but holds strong. I know it can easily handle much more than this. I’ve found what appears to be a man-made crevice further down than any man in recorded history, outside of me, has ever been able to travel. Entering the crevice, I am seeing and recording many numerous symbols. I cannot decipher them nor even determine their origin. No matter, that can all be sorted out when reviewing the tapes when above water. Just as I’m starting to think that this tunnel may just go on forever, my radar detects a large opening from the tunnel. Soon, I, too can see this large opening, I have reached to where this tunnel was created to lead the original creators to, perhaps for the first time in millions of years.

After searching the area, I have determined it to be some sort of arena. There are depictions of what appear to be some creatures fighting, whether this is fiction or an accurate depiction remains to be seen. They most resemble the design of Grecian artwork, perhaps this was some sort of coliseum. Upon closer examination of the figures, they more and more appear to be anthropomorphic sea creatures, engaged in mortal battle with shields, swords, and other such gladiatorial armaments. I have found the ‘roof’ of this structure, and no other entrances or exits other than the one I arrived from. The only way left to for me to explore is further downwards, but by radar no bottom has yet been detected. I have been seeing scratches along the surrounding walls for the past while, and they appear to be getting deeper… and increasing in amount as well.

It’s quite the haunting atmosphere down here, inside an ancient civilization’s colosseum, listening to the submarine’s thrusters; it feels as if I can almost hear the antediluvian crowds cheering.

Something is attacking my submarine; it’s shaking and is beyond my control. I can see what appear to be the suction cups of a giant cephalopod arm against the viewports. Wait, I can see something else, a light. It’s beautiful, chilling, seraphic. It sees me as well. It sees through me. I have found the meaning.

These have been the final transcribed audio Daybooks of Dr. Thulius Hatchard. I hope you have become as enriched reading them, or listening to their accompanying audio book, as I have by transcribing them. And to those of you listening to the audio recording at home, do not worry, that background noise is nothing to worry about, your copy is fine. There is an error with the original recording of the daybook, our technicians have tried to lower the sound or remove it all together, but to no avail. What may sound like a ‘voice’ in the background saying “I am the truth beyond the grave” periodically was brought about by the technology of the recorder as well as the method of recording. Once again, it is purely a technological issue.

Dr. Hatchard’s submarine returned via autopilot, and he is presumed lost at sea. The submarine had no visible damage; the video recordings show nothing that matched the description of the audio recordings. He will be remembered always as a genius and pioneer of Deep-Sea exploration.

The Andro-Booster

Posted in Fiction, Sci-Fi on July 23, 2009 by GuNNhead

I’m sure, ideal variant. The best Andro-Booster. Undefeated since my inception. I remember the first time I was awaken, it was by what I learned was a group of thieves; they had stumbled upon me whilst pilfering from an old abandoned complex. They knew not what I was, only that I looked like I was worth a lot of  ‘space bucks’. It was when they attempted to move my body that I awoke. While holding upon one of my arms, my defensive mode was triggered. This information I have told you was all told to me within my first moments of activation from those who would have pilfered me, they were quite eager to talk as I performed a specific set of actions on all of them:

Examination

Inquisition

Interpretation

Laceration

Admonate

Incapacitate

Attenuate

Eviscerate

Searching my diagnostics, as well as any area of my AI that I could repair the damage to, did not turn up much, only that I am an Andro-Booster, I was created many years ago, and also most of the terrine maps available at the time. I searched my surroundings for more information, but could find nothing further that would be of use, not even information on myself, save for numerous files on the use of my weapons systems. I scoured the entire compound, but still found nothing. I then left the compound and went aboard the thieves’ craft. With this craft now in my position, I set out to find more information from specific coordinates to different terrine quadrants found in the repair of my AI; I could only assume that these areas may have had more information upon my creation.

From that moment on I have been traveling to distant terrines, but finding only death. This is how I became the best Andro-Booster. Nearly every area that I visited engaged me in battle against others like myself; though, they were ‘not-quite’. None could compete against me, and so often times I would visit these worlds, destroy all opponents, discover little to no information, and travel to the next coordinate. One day, however I found something different than armies; I found a being that welcomed me into the complex, and apologized for having no information, but he offered to aide in my search, if I allowed his ‘camera crew’ to follow me in my journeys. Many battles ensued, and I came to gain more and more information, including information on unused weapon systems. I soon learned that I truly ‘enjoyed’ the battles, and would occasionally take a ‘break’ from my search, simply to test my weapon systems on other advanced Andro-Boosters who sought to challenge me for ‘fame’ and ‘fortune’. I ‘enjoy’ all that I can do to others:

Amputation

Detonation

Mutilation

Granulation

Asphyxiate

Liquidate

Decapitate

Annihilate

Legends of the Primal Energy

Posted in Fantasy, Fiction, Legends of the Primal Energy on July 22, 2009 by GuNNhead

“Our Goddess was fired,” spoke Remmah Pallow, local blacksmith, “there is nothing more we can do, I will fight beside you no longer, Daystar.”

“Aye, tis no use, we have been defeated, and with Ahriman knowing the location of the Primal Energy, the best we can do is enjoy our final moments,” agreed Elm Stellmoor. The few remaining surviving party members conceded, leaving Daystar Firedrake the only one still willing to pursue Ahriman deep within the densest forests of Wealdland to the location of the Primal Energy. Perhaps they were correct, Ahriman had suddenly, mysteriously attained great power, destroying the armies of Wealdland as well as vanquishing their Goddess who had been watching over and ensuring balance was maintained over the lands.

“I cannot believe that I have ever fought beside you chicken hearted men! No matter, I will head to the Primal Energy forsaken, and shall defeat Ahriman as well as his newfound power unassisted. What one army could not do, I will accomplish,” stated Daystar

“With Ahriman as strong as he has clearly shown here today, we have come to accept our fates, as one man, you cannot change your soft destiny, do not perish in vain, alone in the forest against that vile magus, remain here and celebrate our life and past battles won against him,” Remmah beseeched.

“That is not possible for me, Remmah, I have sworn to protect Wealdland, no matter the cost, and my fight shall never end until my life does likewise. My destiny is one that is iron enough to pierce the ceiling of the heavens, farewell.” With that, Daystar Firedrake set off towards the secluded resting place of the all powerful Primal Energy.

Daystar traveled upon the heels of Ahriman, who tore his way through the forests towards his goal, his time now almost at hand. A clear path was razed for Daystar, though, to not bring danger or misfortune upon himself, followed the path that he had come to master in his years of training. Soon, he reached the hidden clearance upon which the Primal Energy stood, surrounded by a vast expanse. It was then that he saw the wretched Rapacious Ahriman return to visibility and lift the Primal Energy from its pedestal.

“Return the Primal Energy now!” Daystar, the brave hero sworn to protect Wealdland, demanded, drawing his sword.

“It is no use, Daystar Firedrake, for I, Rapacious Ahriman, have finally succeeded in obtaining the Primal Energy that I have desired for eons! Nothing can stop me as I conquer all of Wealdland and make it my own!” Ahriman cackled from across the void. Daystar had been dreading this day for many years now, stopping Ahriman unceasingly, but he had finally failed, and the world of Wealdland would be no more.

“No, Ahriman, for you will find the Primal Energy has no use to you as I plunge my sword deep into your black heart!”

“Hahaha, fool! You have been my greatest adversary for far too long, the pleasure I will take in destroying you will be beyond that which I took from your Goddess!”

Daystar leapt across the chasm towards Ahriman, but it was no use, for the sorcerer suspended Daystar over the abyss with his magics, and as he held Daystar helpless, he crushed the air out of the hero’s lungs and the life from his body. Once the fight had finally left the hero, Ahriman released his mystical hold and Daystar Firedrake’s body fell deep into the dark abyss.

Radiation Sickness

Posted in Fiction, Sci-Fi on July 21, 2009 by GuNNhead

Atomo-Bile stood towering over the city, spewing its radioactive waste, dissolving flesh and steel alike. Most children would never see Atomo-Bile on anything but the television, as those unable to relocate would die of radiation poisoning long before it reached their city to liquefy all that was. This had been going on for months now, with no end in sight. It had come from the south, leaving a devastating trail through countless miles of rainforests and small villages, no one knew its purpose or reason, all they knew is that it destroyed everything it could.

Eventually it was discovered that the monster’s journey of destruction began near Tierra del Fuego, but was regarded as a hoax, as most footage would either be destroyed by Atomo-Bile’s radiation, or the same fate would befall the one filming. It was when Atomo-Bile hit Buenos Aires that would be the first time it gained national media attention. The world leaders were hesitant to become involved, not regarding Atomo-Bile as their problem, but when it showed no signs of slowing or stopping, the United Nations took action. They actualized a plan to stop it at the Panama Canal. With humankind watching, the combined military forces launched a full scale assault on Atomo-Bile. The attack failed miserably, suffering complete casualties. Those who retreated soon died of radiation poisoning, vomiting what was once their innards as bile similar to that of Atomo-Bile.

Soon reaching a treaty with Mexico, a nuclear strike was implemented, and that too was a failure. None of the calculations that were made in exacting this strike ended up being correct, taking into account fallout from the strike, evacuating cities, airing safety precautions 24/7, and acceptable collateral damage, all useless. There was no fallout, no valent radiation, nothing; Atomo-Bile saw to that. Atomo-Bile absorbed it all, the fire, the flames, and the radiation. Although it needed no aide, it used all of this to replicate, becoming an unstoppable faction. It worked as a hive-mind, retching and spewing neon green translucent sludge that never seemed to exhaust upon the entire world.

The world leaders wished that one would rise, and claim Atomo-Bile as his own, make demands for money, or power, but none came forward, not even to claim that it was he, he who is the one responsible for the complete destruction of mankind, the end of history. No, none would go down in history as the madman responsible for Atomo-Bile, there would be no history, there will be no history, Atomo-Bile is unstoppable.

People could see Atomo-Bile for miles before it reached their city, its glow illuminating the night sky in an ethereal green; the sight would have been beautiful had it not such ghastly connotations, and might have been pleasant were it not for the haunting, echoing chant Atomo-Bile would moan in unison between expelations of its corrosive regurgitations:

Atomo-Bile is unstoppable. Atomo-Bile will destroy all. Atomo-Bile is force of nature. Atomo-Bile will be world. Atomo-Bile is power. Atomo-Bile will forge Atomodrome. Atomo-Bile is atomic overlord. Atomo-Bile will not stop.

Day 164

All I need is one final part and the entirety of my current operation will be done! I’ve been working around the clock, mulling over the finer details, refining, texturizing, and even pasteurizing. There was a time I thought it would never end, but that is far behind me now, tucked firmly in the past where none can ever access it. All that is left is a small trip to the airport, only this time, it’s not I who shall have their so-called luggage lost, it is they, oh yes, they who would and have taken more from me than anyone. How dare they refuse to refund my ticket, it is they who did not have vicatang, though I had specifically requested it as my meal months prior to my flight; this grave injustice, of course, on top of losing my luggage, which was never to be found again. No matter, for tonight was my night of revenge, no, not revenge, retribution!

Turbines, simple turbines for my meat jet; readily available by the planeful, awaiting like precious little babes in the night for me, only me to steal away with into the night.

Day 165

The operation was a full success! The turbines are in my possession, this entry must be short, for there is much work to be done, and I am so giddy I may once more howl at the primeval moon, oh how my phantasmagorical goddess looks upon me with her tender beams, offering the direction to my life that I must not disobey, that I would never want to disobey, she reads my inner most thoughts and brings them to action!

Day 167

Once again, the operation was a complete success! These turbines, they make my meat jet, my rocket fly higher: In-out for hours, in-out for days! There is no doubt, my manhood stays! Tonight, I shall take it on its maiden voyage, and be able to finally see the world how my vision does, no more of this decay upon the earth, so close, too close for me to breathe, too far for me to lay upon. My mind will float, while all others long to read the skies, I will write upon them in machine code of my own design, what none can decipher. Ha! A cipher of meat! What a delectable comeuppance!

Day 189

I have been at air for far too long now, at sea, one would say that they have developed their sea legs, but for me, I can no longer relate in correlation to the earth. The place I must go is beyond, to every “where?” and every “why?”, the answer lay beyond the sky. It is with this I leave who so ever can fathom my phantastical concepts to follow in my, ha! My turbinical prints that leave no trace! Save for what is no longer meat, but a hybrid that none could ever hope to comprehend. Looking over my previous entries, even I can no longer understand them, save for the most recent, and even then, I feel I have become disconnected from who I was, and that, I should imagine, was the original intent, or, design, rather. I am more now, so much more than I was, and everything that you can never be.
